Job Summary
Student Ambassadors are representatives of the college who with their student perspective make a valuable contribution towards ensuring a welcoming, inclusive and supportive student journey. This position provides an opportunity to foster relationships and promote a positive learning experience. A Student Ambassador will gain leadership and mentorship experience using their student perspective and experience to deliver support to a diverse range of prospective and/or current students in navigating their educational experience. In providing this assistance, a Student Ambassador may also provide basic work of a routine clerical nature, which can be learned on the job and requires no previous experience.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
1. Support peers in their orientation to and navigating through college campuses, services, and systems.

2. Support peers with routine and general assistance within the College (e.g. Indigenous gathering space, computer labs). 

3. Working with the existing instructional / service delivery by offering safe, and direct peer-to-peer learning support opportunities and experiences.

4. Promote student social connection and community building with assistance in delivering outreach student life activities and events. This includes attending and assisting with engagement activities and events for students and/or prospective students (e.g. Welcome Days, Experience VCC, awareness campaigns, special events, recruitment activities / fairs).

5. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

  • Must be registered as a VCC student and have basic oral and written English proficiency.

Skills and Abilities

  • A keen interest in helping existing and/or prospective students.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to interact and serve as bridge of communication with students in ways that support and enhance college programs and services.
  • Basic clerical ability, including the ability to use elementary office equipment under close supervision.
  • Cross cultural sensitivity and awareness.

Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE
Starts at $15.65 per hour, plus 11.5% premium in lieu of benefits, a 4.6% premium in lieu of stat holidays, and 4.8% premium in lieu of vacation.
